NEWTON (KWWL) -

The editor of the Newton Daily News has been fired one week after posting a message in a personal blog that said the "gaystapo" are trying to "make their sinful nature 'right with God.' " by reworking the bible.

Bob Eschliman was an employee at the paper since June of 2012, and the newspaper announced in a news story and editorial in the Tuesday edition that Eschliman was no longer an editor.

The company's president, John Rung says Eschliman's opinion doesn't reflect that of the paper or the company, and by airing his opinion it compromised the publication's reputation.
