The Mississippi River is rising

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The National Weather Service says the river in Dubuque late Monday afternoon was just under the minor flood stage of 17 feet.

The river level, measured at Dubuque's railroad bridge, is heading toward a predicted crest of nearly 18.5 feet on Saturday, which would put it in the moderate flood category.

Dubuque officials have closed the Ice Harbor gates and are pumping water out of it.
