KWWL takes home 4 state broadcasting excellence awards

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - KWWL newscasts, anchors and reporters took home four awards for excellence in broadcasting at the annual Iowa Broadcast News Association award ceremony over the weekend.

The IBNA awards and conference took place May 3 in Cedar Rapids.

Reporter Michael Crowe took home 1st place in the Large Market - General Reporting category for his piece on pediatric medical marijuana.

Reporter Shelley Russell took home 2nd place in the Large Market - General Reporting category for her piece on a flood rescue.

Evening anchors Ron Steele and Amanda Goodman took home 2nd place in the Large Market - Excellence in Anchoring category.

KWWL overall received an Honorable Mention in the Large Market - Best Newscast category for the 6 p.m. newscast Dec. 5, 2013.

This year's IBNA awards saw more than 650 entries from around Iowa, a record for the organization.
