WASHINGTON (KWWL) -
Two men are in jail after a burglary investigation in Washington Sunday morning which damaged a police car. Police say one of the suspects intentionally struck a police vehicle while trying to make a getaway. Police were called to a burglary in progress on Larch Avenue around 1:20 a.m. Sunday. They say when they arrived, two men were trying to leave in an SUV. They say the driver then intentionally a hit a Washington Police Department SUV while trying to leave the scene. Police say one suspect was taken into custody immediately while the other was captured after a short search involving a K-9 officer from the Washington Police Dept. 39-year-old Donald King of Centralia, Illinois faces charges of burglary, trespass, and assault on a peace officer. 26-year-old Mark Grimes of Centralia faces charges of burglary, trespass, and interference with official acts. Both are in the Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond. No-one was injured, though one officer was reported to have been evaluated at a Washington hospital and released.
