DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Governor Terry Branstad has been sent a nearly $1.9 billion health and human services budget bill after it was approved by lawmakers; however, that bill does not include funding to reopen the Iowa Juvenile Home in Toledo.

Without a provision for the Toledo home for delinquent girls, the Democrats' push to reopen the facility now comes to an end for this legislative session.

Governor Branstad closed the Iowa Juvenile Home in January.

Democrats in both the Iowa House and Senate made attempts to change the budget and add funding for the facility; however, Tuesday, a budget bill was approved that didn't include any money for the home.

Governor Branstad says he closed the home after allegations that the girls staying there were being mistreated.
