DUNKERTON (KWWL) -

A former Dunkerton high school student has been imprisoned for taking a loaded gun to school.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier says Mar'yo Lindsey Jr. was sentenced on Monday to five years in prison.

The 18-year-old was convicted of carrying weapons, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm on school grounds and possession of marijuana. The various sentences will be served at the same time.

Lindsey played football for the Dunkerton football team.

Authorities say they found a handgun and marijuana in Lindsey's gear bag following an Aug. 30 game. He'd been sent to a hospital for treatment of an injury.
