Cedar Rapids police respond to another shots fired call

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Cedar Rapids police responded to a shots fired call on Tuesday morning just after 4:15 a.m.

Police found multiple gun casings outside of a home located at 220 18th St. NE.

They say multiple rounds were fired into the home but no one was injured.

The investigation is ongoing and police have not released a description of a suspect or suspects.

This is the most recent shooting in the city over the course of a few weeks.

The city has also seen seven homicides this year, more than there were in 2012 and 2013 combined.

Tuesday afternoon Cedar Rapids Police Chief Wayne Jerman, Linn County Attorney Jerry Vander Sanden, and United States Attorney Kevin Techau will hold a press conference to discuss the recent violence in the city.

KWWL will be at that press conference and will have details on how officials are responding to the recent violence tonight on the News at Five and Six.
