One dead after severe storms in eastern Iowa

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - One person is dead after severe storms moved through parts of eastern Iowa Sunday afternoon.

The Keokuk County Sheriff's Office says the person died when the storm moved through Sunday near Kinross.

The person's name has not been released pending notification of family.

Several counties across the southern part of the state reported damage due to the storm.

Areas of Keokuk, Benton, and Iowa County saw building damage.

There were reports of blockages on several highways, including Highway 22 in Keokuk County, Highway 30 in Benton County and Highway 218 in Washington County, where a semi driver had to be taken to a hospital.
