Posted: Updated:
MARION (KWWL) -

Authorities have released the name of a man who died following a house fire in Marion.  The Marion Fire Department says the victim is 37-year-old David Norman, who had a wife and two small children.  Norman was found dead in the room where the fire started.

The fire happened just after 2:45 Sunday morning at 3462 Barnsley Circle.  Family members tell us the mother and children were home and made it out safely.

“Lost a very close member of the family,” said Ben Huston on Sunday, who is Norman's brother-in-law. “A wonderful man has two daughters and a wife and there are many family members suffering from this loss today.”

Marion Fire officials say working smoke alarms were responsible for saving the three people who made it out okay.
No other injuries were reported.

The Marion Fire Department says the fire remains under investigation and more information will be released when it is available.
