Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) - The Waterloo Black Hawks scored 3 unanswered goals as they took down Sioux City 3-1 on Saturday night to take a 2-0 lead in the best of 5 series.
The Black Hawks fell behind early as Adam Johnson fed a cross-ice pass to Bobby Nardella, who would fire it home for the only goal of the first period.
Waterloo finally broke through in the final minute of the second period. With a 5 on 3 advantage, Tyler Sheehy hit Drew Melanson in front of the net as he scored his second goal of the playoffs. Still on the power play, Sheehy scored 30 seconds later, while Liam Pacararo added a 3rd period tally to put the game away.
Cal Petersen, in net for the Black Hawks, turned away 25 of 26 shots he saw in the game.
Waterloo will go for the sweep as the series heads to Sioux City on Friday for game 3.
