Volunteers pick up trash to set world record.

People in Cedar Rapids tried to help set a world record for the longest litter clean-up in the world.

It's in partnership to clean the "Avenue of Saints" from St. Paul, Minnesota to St. Louis, Missouri.

Nearly 300 volunteers picked up trash along sections of Interstate 380 through Cedar Rapids.

I-380 carries more than 31,000 travelers through Cedar Rapids every day, and volunteers tell us they want to make a clean impression.

"[We want people to ] look at Cedar Rapids and say 'Boy that's nice and clean, maybe that's the place to relocate," said volunteer Doug Randall. "A little smaller town, got all the amenities and everything like that."

The litter collection is in partnership with the city, Keep Iowa Beautiful and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
