More than $57,000 in computer equipment stolen and sold from UIHC

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The Iowa State Auditor's Office has identified more than $57,000 in theft from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

UIHC requested review after allegations against a former information technology consultant.

The Auditor's Office says a special investigation shows Brian Manary sold hospital equipment and kept the money.
The office also says the estimate of $57,000 is conservative since there isn't enough information to match some of the equipment to an original purchase by the hospital.

The Auditor's Office also identified some computers purchased by UIHC were sold shortly after they were bought.
