Young Iowa innovators show off at Invent Iowa in Iowa City

Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

More than two dozen elementary students from across Iowa shared their inventions that they think might make life a bit easier.

It's part of the annual Invent Iowa competition at the University of Iowa.

The competition brought young inventors from all across the state to the university to share their innovative and creative inventions.

Each student had to think of something that bugs them, and their invention is the solution to hopefully make the problem better.

"I thought it would be easier just to have a tackle box and a fishing pole in one," said 10-year-old Davin Rucker. "Also my grandpa is disabled and it would be easier for him if he has this."

Each student received $100 for their entry.

Judges selected six students to win a $500 scholarship for the best inventions.
