Linn Co.: Knife found at Marion park not left 'maliciously'

MARION (KWWL) -

How safe are our playgrounds? One eastern Iowan is concerned.

David Gray says he found a knife at the playground at Squaw Creek Park in Marion Thursday night.

We called the Linn County Conservation Department and they confirmed a sheriff's deputy was sent to the park. They say a park ranger lives at the park and monitors the 700 acres for safety.

When there's a problem, the sheriff's department calls the ranger. If the ranger is unavailable, then the sheriff's department responds.

The Linn County Conservation Department said Friday afternoon the knife did not appear to be left at the park "maliciously." They said they will continue to inspect the parks as normal.
