WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A Waterloo man was arrested Friday morning after police found a stolen gun in his car during a traffic stop.

Sgt. Matt McGeough says officers from the Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Broadway Street for an equipment violation.

Officers say as they approached the vehicle they saw the driver, 25-year-old Termaine Deshawn Toles, reach under the seat.

After further investigation, officers say they found a .45 caliber, semi-automatic handgun under the seat. They also say the gun was stolen.

Toles is charged with carrying weapons and possession of stolen property.

He was taken to the Black Hawk County Jail.
