Washington County authorities warn of phone scam

The Washington County Communications Center has gotten reports that some county residents have received scam phone calls.
They say the caller says that they're an employee with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, and the number that they call from has been manipulated to be the actual business number from the Sheriff's Office: 653-2107.
The caller tells the person on the receiving end that they've won one million dollars and in order to collect their winnings, they must send $3,000.
Authorities want to remind residents that it is a scam and you should not send money of personal information to receive a legitimate prize.

    Family members of former Black Hawk County Deputy Doug Norton have opened up registration for their third annual Memorial Bean Bag Tournament.Norton died in 2011 after a heart attack following a workout near his home.
