KWWL Storm Track 7 Meteorologist

Dean Wysocki joined the KWWL Storm Track 7 Team in mid-April of 2014, becoming part of the award-winning storm tracking team.

A native of Plainfield, Ill., just outside of Chicago, Wysocki is familiar with weather in the Midwest, having previous experience in several television markets in Nebraska. He has also worked as an on-air meteorologist with the nationally syndicated service, Weather Nation, providing forecasts throughout the country.

Dean earned his bachelor’s in Meteorology from Northern Illinois University, and has been certified by the American Meteorological Society (AMS) since 1996.

For Wysocki, he is living his dream since he was a young child.

“Ever since I was seven, I knew I wanted to be a meteorologist," he said. "The way the weather can change so quickly has always fascinated me."

“I’m looking forward to being part of such a trusted group,” Wysocki added. “Severe weather in Iowa is serious stuff, and I take the responsibility for calm, accurate forecasting and storm tracking for the viewers just as seriously. I want the people of eastern Iowa to know they can count on me.”

Wysocki has had his fair share of severe weather experiences, covering major blizzards as well being a part of the coverage of an F4 tornado that severely damaged the town of Hallam, Neb.

An outdoor enthusiast, Wysocki is an avid golfer and tennis player.

“If I’m not at work, I’m outside," he said. "Hiking, biking. The outdoors is a meteorologist’s natural habitat.”

A die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, Dean is ever the optimist, but knows he may spend the summer commiserating with fellow fans in eastern Iowa. “One day it will happen. One day.”
