BREAKING: Evacuations over in Delaware County after gas leak

Posted: Updated:
DELAWARE COUNTY (KWWL) - The Delaware County Sheriff's Office says the evacuations are over near Ryan after a "large" natural gas leak.  76 homes were evacuated near Highway 13 between Highway 20 and County Road D47.  Delaware County Emergency Management tells our crew at the scene an anhydrous applicator struck or otherwise came into contact with a farm tap in a farm field around 10 a.m. Saturday.  A farm tap is a piece of equipment where someone who lives on a farm can pull natural gas from a pipeline for use. Northern Natural Gas and Black Hills Energy have crews on the scene.    They say strong winds helped to disperse the gas, lessening some of the danger.  They say only the people who live on the property where the incident occurred are being kept away from their home while crews continue to work..
