Posted: Updated:
BENTON COUNTY (KWWL) - The Iowa State Patrol has released the names of two people who died in a crash involving farm equipment in Benton County.

Troopers say 42-year-old Paul Hofmeyer and a passenger in his car, 44-year-old Stacy Thompson, died when his car crossed the center line and hit an agricultural boom sprayer head-on.

It happened just before 7 p.m. Friday on 70th street, just west of Van Horne.

Troopers say Hofmeyer and Thompson were not wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the sprayer, 42-year-old Jeffrey Selk of Keystone, was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.
