Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Waterloo- Cedar Valley IowaWork, in partnership with Manpower and Upper Iowa University Waterloo, will be hosting a hiring event to introduce National Career Readiness Certificates (NCRC) holders to employers who recognize the certificates.

The event will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Upper Iowa University Waterloo campus, located at 3563 University Avenue.

The certificate was created to assist employers in recruiting new employees, discover training needs, and/or promote incumbent workers.

Based on a series of three WorkKeys assessments -- Reading for Information, Locating Information and Applied Mathematics -- a certificate is awarded. This credential is noted as an essential component in transitioning workers from declining to emerging occupations and students entering the workforce.

From 1-2 p.m. Thursday, the event is open to the general public looking for employment opportunities.

The career center staff from AMVETS Post 49 will attend and welcome any veterans and military persons.

For more information about the event or how you can attain your NCRC certification, call IowaWORKS at 319-235-2123.
