Jonathan Youngbear's murder case moved to federal court
The man accused of murdering another man on the Meskwaki Nation Settlement in rural Tama in February has had his case dismissed by the state, and the murder trial has moved to federal courts.
A criminal complaint says authorities were dispatched to a reported stabbing on February 24 at 1695 340th Street. When authorities arrived, they say they found the body of Severn Jefferson with blood pooling from apparent stab wounds to Jefferson's chest. The complaint continues, saying a witness told investigators that he or she had witnessed Youngbear stabbing Jefferson.
After interviewing Youngbear, the complaint says Youngbear acknowledged killing Jefferson.
