Cab driver robbed in Iowa City

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - Police in Iowa City are investigating an assault and robbery of a cab driver early Sunday morning.

Police were called to the 1000 block of 5th Avenue in Iowa City just before 3 a.m. after receiving a report that a female cab driver had been robbed.

The driver told officers that she was struck from behind with an unknown object and had an undisclosed amount of cash taken. She was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where she was treated for minor injuries.

The suspects are described as two black males. They both fled the area in an unknown direction. The Iowa City Police Department along with the Johnson County Sheriff's Department were unable to locate the suspects.

Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of this suspect.
