Annual Doc Dash raises money for healthcare clinics
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -
More than 300 people took part in the annual Doc Dash hosted by the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
The competitive 5K run and walk supports the Iowa City Free Medical Clinic and the University of Iowa Mobile Clinic.
Participants say it's all to promote a healthy lifestyle.
"It meant a lot," said race winner Charlie Paul. "I'm glad it was someone from the med school that got to win and it was great to come out here and see a lot of my classmates and see a lot of people from the community. It's a pretty nice day for it."
Proceeds from the run will be split between Iowa City Free Medical Clinic and the University of Iowa Mobile Clinic.
Those groups provide free or reduced cost healthcare for people living in the Iowa City area.
