6 ousted from home after Cedar Rapids fire

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Six people no longer have their home following a devastating fire Thursday morning in Cedar Rapids.

Crews were dispatched at 11:53 a.m. Thursday to a home on 3023 G Ave. NE.

Officials say there were two adults and a four-year-old who managed to make it out of the home without getting hurt. Three other people were not at home at the time.

Following an investigation, firefighters believe the fire began on the rear patio of the home.

Investigators believe a bucket partially filled with cigarette butts may have led to the fire.
