Ron Steele Celebrates 40 Years at KWWL

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Tuesday marked 40 years since Ron Steele joined the KWWL family.

At 24 years old, Ron joined the KWWL family after snagging a job as the sports director.

A few years later, in 1979, he changed desks and became the station's main anchor alongside Liz Mathis.

He has since shared the desk with Bobbi Earles, Ann Kerian, Tara Thomas, and currently co-anchors with KWWL's Amanda Goodman.

Over the years, Ron has traveled thousands of miles from home to cover stories important to KWWL viewers.

He covered the Gulf War with live reports in Saudi Arabia. He also interviewed President George Bush on Air Force One.

But Ron will be the first to say his real pride and joy is his family: his wife, Candy, three kids and two grandchildren.

He is looking forward to adding another grandchild to the family in just a couple of months.
