Funding for CP-U and Linn-Mar is on Tuesday's ballot

Posted: Updated:

Voters in Benton and Linn County will weigh in on school funding during Tuesday’s special election.

Center Point-Urbana Community School District is hoping a $12-million bond referendum will help them renovate three schools: CP-U’s intermediate, middle and high school. If the bond referendum passes, the district hopes to replace portions of the intermediate and middle school.  The money would also replace the heating and cooling systems in both schools, as well as, help both schools meet fire safety and handicap accessibility requirements.  More than $3.4 million would also go toward constructing industrial technology classrooms at the high school. Meanwhile, voters in the Linn-Mar School District will decide whether to renew the current Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL). The levy money will be used to repair roofs, parking lots, and heating and cooling systems, as well as, to purchase school buses and technology for classrooms. Polls are open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
