Spring fever hits eastern Iowa

WATERLOO (KWWL) -     Although the official first day of Spring was March 20, for many, Sunday felt like that day. Temperatures were in the 60s throughout Eastern Iowa.
"Good change from how cold it's been," said Joe Bruen, University of Northern Iowa student.
At George Wyth State Park in Waterloo, Kate Thompson and John Williams were enjoying the day walking their dog, among other events.
"Well, we actually just got engaged," said Thompson.
Williams took Thompson on a scavenger hunt through the park before popping the big question and says he's been planning this event for a while now.
"I had to actually plan today because it's so nice. I'm going to be leaving here in a few weeks so I wasn't sure when we'd get another weekend," said Williams.
At Black Hawk Park near Cedar Falls, a lot of people were at the the outdoor shooting and archery ranges including Russell Kacher and his group.
"Just getting our bows sighted and ready for turkey hunting," said Kacher.
At the University of Northern Iowa, students finally were able to study outside, dorm windows were opened and some even played a pick up game of catch.
"The fact that it's warm out makes me happy camper that's for sure," said Bruen.
