Dozens of firefighters train in Waterloo

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) - More than 70 firefighters spent Saturday training as part of the Quad County Fire Association's annual training in Waterloo.

Aside from classes, firefighters received hands-on training where they learned how to put out a house fire and rescue someone from a vehicle.

"Some of the things we offer here today guys don't always get to do hands on unless they're actually on a scene. This gives them an opportunity to get the experience they need to do a better job actually on scene," said Rob Gipper, a board member on the Quad County Fire Association.

New this year to the training program was a forced entry prop where firefighters learned to safely enter a building when doors or windows are locked.
