DUBUQUE (KWWL) -
Dubuque fire crews rescued a 12-year-old boy from an icy pond in Dubuque Saturday afternoon. Officials with the Dubuque Fire Department say they responded to a report of a boy walking on unstable ice at a pond at the Sisters of the Presentation at 2360 Carter Road around 3:30 p.m. Crews were able to pull the boy to safety shortly after they arrived.
Assistant Fire Chief Mark Ludescher said the ice was so weak along the edge of the pond that rescuers fell through getting the boy to shore. Ludescher said the boy was transported to a Dubuque hospital. His condition has not been released.
