CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) - A Cedar Falls man was arrested Wednesday morning for the theft of four motor vehicles and the burglary of five vehicles.

Matthew John Tarkett, 40, of Cedar Falls, was arrested Wednesday and charged with four counts of second-degree theft, a felony; five counts of third-degree burglary and possession of marijuana, according to the Cedar Falls Police Department.

Officers were called to 422 Heritage Road for theft of a 1999 Honda Civic just after 6 a.m.

Police discovered the vehicle parked and running in the 4200 block of Spruce Hills Drive in Cedar Falls just before 6:30 a.m. with Tarkett in the vehicle.

As police investigated, they discovered evidence that Tarkett had stolen and burglarized more vehicles, leading to the additional charges.

The thefts and burglaries happened between Saturday and Wednesday, police said.

Marijuana was also located during the search, according to police.
