Muskies beat Des Moines; move up in playoff seeding

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - The Sioux City Musketeers moved into third place in the USHL's Western Conference with a 3-1 win over Des Moines on Tuesday night. There are just four games left in the regular season as teams battle for seeding for the playoffs.

Des Moines led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Danny Elser at the 9:32 mark.

Sioux City tied the game five minutes into the second period when Bobby Nardella fed Bobo Carpenter to make it 1-1 after two periods. The Musketeers outshot the Buccaneers 28-11 through the first two periods.

The Musketeers took their first lead of the game when Carpenter scored an unassisted goal just 22 seconds into the third period to make it 2-1.

Adam Johnson scored an empty net goal with 24 seconds left to provide the final margin. Collin Olson made 23 saves to get the victory in net for Sioux City.

Sioux City (36-17-3) travels to Sioux Falls on Friday and will host Tri-City on Sunday at 5 pm.
