Man sentenced to life with out parole files appeal

Posted: Updated:

A man sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole for killing his grandparents is appealing his case.
According to online court records, Isaiah Sweet filed an appeal notice in Delaware District Court on Thursday; however, those court records don’t indicate why Sweet is appealing.
In 2012, the US Supreme Court ruled that sentencing a juvenile to life in prison without the chance of parole is unconstitutional—except in rare cases. Sweet was a juvenile when he killed his grandparents and has been considered one of those rare cases.
