Family, authorities still looking for Ashlee Ruhl of New Hampton

Posted: Updated:
NEW HAMPTON (KWWL) - “She wasn't here when I got home from work and she’s always here,” said Shawna Larsen. “I was doing the dishes and I got a sick feeling in my stomach.”

That sick feeling remains — nearly two weeks later, her only daughter, 16-year-old Ashlee Ruhl, is still missing.

New Hampton Police first called Ashlee a runaway, and that’s what Larsen initially thought, too. But now, she says that can’t be right.

“I just know that she’d call,” Larsen said. “I know that somebody would see her. Nobody has seen her. Nobody. Her best friends don’t know nothing.”

Larsen said Ashlee did not take her car with her, and that worries her, because even if she did leave willingly with someone, it’s possible that’s changed now. The family is posting flyers across Chickasaw County.

Larsen said Ashlee did leave a note, but police advised the family not to share it with the media. Ashlee’s Facebook account has also disappeared.

“There’s got to be something,” Larsen said. “I’m sorry, I just have that feeling — something is wrong.”

Now, she will wait, hoping for answers and the safe return of her daughter.

New Hampton Police did not respond to requests for comment Tuesday. However, they did previously ask that anyone with information regarding Ashlee’s whereabouts contact them or the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office.
