North Cedar High School will be repurposed

Posted: Updated:
STANWOOD (KWWL) - Monday the North Cedar Community School Board voted 3-2 to consolidate grades 7-12 in the Clarence facility and repurpose the current high school in Stanwood.

North Cedar Superintendent Mike Cooper says students in grades 5 and 6 will be moved back to the elementary buildings in Mechanicsville and Lowden starting in the 2015-16 academic year.

"After the 2014-15 school year, the facility in Stanwood will no longer be utilized as the district high school," Cooper said. "The building will be used daily for a weight room facility, junior high volleyball and basketball practices and games, house the central offices for the superintendent, building and grounds, business, transportation and bus barn, and the alternative school.  The town of Stanwood will also continue to be the site for home football games and a new all weather track that will be ready in the spring of 2015 to host track meets."
