Independence school board accepts assistant coach's resignation

Posted: Updated:
INDEPENDENCE (AP) - The Independence school board has accepted the resignation of a basketball coach who'd complained of threats and criticism.

The board didn't discuss or directly comment at Monday's meeting on the decision by assistant girls basketball coach Rob Ratchford, according to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.

He and head girls coach Rod Conrad had announced earlier this month that they'd had enough bullying by some of the players' parents and other critics of the program.

Conrad has since said that he's reconsidering, and board president Brian Eddy said Monday that it's his understanding that Conrad is 50-50 on staying in the post versus leaving it.
