Two displaced by Iowa City apartment fire

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - No one was injured, but two people were displaced, in an early morning apartment fire in Iowa City on Tuesday.

The Iowa City Fire Department was dispatched at 4:30 a.m. to a fire at 623 E. Jefferson Street. When crews arrived on scene, they found a fire in an apartment on the upper level of a two and a half story building.

Iowa City Fire Department crews were able to get the fire under control in 45 minutes.

Damage to the structure and contents is estimated to be $40,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the office of the Fire Marshal.
