WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Waterloo police say a 17-year-old was shot Sunday while at Gates Park to buy an iPad.

Officers were called to Gates Park in the 200 block of Lester Street at around 10:05 p.m. for a reported shooting.

When they arrived, officers found that a 17-year-old had been shot in the leg.

Captain Tim Pillack says investigators determined that the teen was at Gates Park with his father to buy an iPad from a subject.

Police say that while the teen and his father were in their vehicle with the seller, five other teenagers ordered them out of the vehicle, robbed them and shot the teen in the leg.

A 15-year-old, a 16-year-old and three 17-year-olds were taken into custody and charged with first-degree robbery and willful injury.

Police searched 223 Webster Street, the home of one of the 17-year-olds, and recovered a 9-millimeter handgun and a .22-caliber revolver they say were used in the robbery.
