Regents to study efficiency of Iowa's three universities

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) - The Iowa Board of Regents plans to study the efficiency of Iowa's three universities in a $2.5 million contract with Deloitte Consulting in the coming weeks.

Regents will look closely at the operations taking place at the University of Northern Iowa, University of Iowa and Iowa State University.

The Board said they aren't sure at this point what the study will find, but want a "transparent and bottom-up process."

According to the board, any savings found through the study will be reinvested into the school from which the money came. During the initial phase, regents will meet with each university president and encourage student involvement as well.

The schedule for the Iowa Board of Regents is as follows:

* Week of March 24: Iowa State University
* Week of March 31: University of Iowa
* Week of April 7: University of Northern Iowa
