Garage Sale Extravaganza raises money for Dubuque Humane Society

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The Dubuque Regional Humane Society Garage Sale Extravaganza helped the Dubuque Regional Humane Society raise more than $20,000 this year. It is the 14th year the Dubuque Regional Humane Society has hosted the event. Each year, hundreds of people turn out for the two day event, which took place on Friday and Saturday.

The garage sale had books, DVDs, furniture, and more for sale with all proceeds benefiting the Dubuque Regional Humane Society.

Maria Benham is the president and CEO of the Dubuque Regional Humane Society.

"There are hundreds, thousands of animals that go homeless every year and are hopefully brought into the humane society to be able to have care, compassion, and find a forever home. So it's up to us, the people, to take care of these animals so being able to raise money is a great way to do that," Benham said Saturday morning.
