DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Waverly-Shell Rock's run at a second straight state title came up a little short.  The Go-Hawks fell to Central Dewitt 56-54 in the class 3A semifinals.

Trailing for much of the game, Waverly-Shell Rock tied it at 27.  Central Dewitt countered with a 9-0 run and never relinquished the lead from there on out.

Sean Westendorf led the Go-Hawk effort with 19 points.  Jake Velky added 17 in the loss.

Waverly-Shell Rock will face Harlan in Saturday's consolation game.
