WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A bill in the Iowa legislature that would make sure that victims of sexual assaults and other crimes that involve military personnel will be able to report them, remains alive after a unanimous vote from a legislative panel.
The House Veterans Affairs Committee agreed on the bill on Thursday.
Within the measure, Iowa’s military forces would have to file a report annually with the governor and the Legislature with details about allegations of sexual misconduct or other crimes within the forces; the bill would also make it illegal for commanders to interfere in the reporting process.
The bill already passed through the state Senate, so now it goes up for debate on the House floor.
