Controversial foul call sinks #1 Senior

Posted: Updated:
DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Kyle Haber appeared to send the game to overtime.  The Dubuque Senior guard hit a leaner with 0.5 seconds left to tie West Des Moines Valley 41-41. A controversial foul call, however, put the Tigers on the free throw line as they escaped the quarterfinals with a 42-41 win.

Senior's Lucas LeGrand was called for a push under the bucket almost simultaneously as the ball tying score swished through the hoop. That put Valley's Carlo Marble on the line as he hit 1 of 2 free throws for the win.

Seth Bonifas scored 12 for Dubuque Senior in the defeat.  Kyle Haber added 11 for the Rams.

Senior's loss was the one for the squad against a team from the state of Iowa this season.
