Three Iowa correctional officers were injured after trying to restrain an inmate—that’s according to the state Department of Corrections. Three staff at the IowaMedicalClassificationCenter in Coralville were trying to respond to a disruptive inmate in the Health Services Department on Wednesday morning. Officials say the inmate was being loud and agitated while discussing health issues with a physician. Two of the officers responded to the incident and were injured by the inmate; another correctional officer was injured in the process. One of the officers was taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, another was treated at an outside clinic and the third had injuries treated by health services staff.
