Jane Goodall to speak at University of Iowa

Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

World traveler and primate expert Jane Goodall will present a lecture on the University of Iowa campus.

She established her own institute back in 1977 that continues to protect chimpanzees and their habitat.

"We humans are not the only beings on the planet with personalities, minds, and feelings," said Goodall. "Other animals share many of these attributes and it makes us think about ways we use and abuse other animals."

Goodall will share some of her early observations of chimpanzees, and her current work to help reach the minds of the younger generation.

She says she tries to help young people understand that there are many environmental problems around the world, and they themselves might face if they view life as outside of academia.

Goodall's "Sowing the Seeds of Hope" lecture is free and open to the public.

It'll be held Monday night at the Carver-Hawkeye arena starting at 7:30 p.m.
