Garwin man killed in 2-vehicle Waterloo crash Sunday

WATERLOO (KWWL) - One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Waterloo Sunday afternoon.

Waterloo Police and Fire Rescue were called to West 6th Street and Commercial Street just before 1:40 p.m. Sunday on a report of a car crash.

A 2011 Ford pick-up driven by Tavious Jermaine Jenkins, 34 of Waterloo, was traveling northbound on West 6th Street when a 2013 Chevrolet Impala driven by Scott James Thomson, 55 of Garwin, also traveling northbound, tried to turn left onto Commercial Street from the middle lane, according to police.

The pick-up hit the Impala, pushing it into a utility pole on the northwest corner of the intersection, according to police.

Thomson died from his injuries. Jenkins received minor injuries, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation.
