CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - An electrician died suddenly at Penford Products on Thursday morning.

Cedar Rapids Public Safety Communications Coordinator Greg Buelow says the police and fire departments were called to Penford Products at 6:46 a.m. Thursday.

When crews arrived, they found a man in his 40's dead in an electrical distribution area.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 405 says the man's name is Brett Brown. He was an electrician for ACME Electric Company and had been working at Penford for several years.

The medical examiner is investigating the cause of death. It is unclear at this time whether Brown died due to a workplace safety issue such as electrocution, or whether it was a medical condition.
