Hudson advances to 2A Girls State Basketball Championship

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

The fourth-ranked Hudson Pirates beat No. 2 Cascade 45-33 in the Class 2A semifinals.

Hudson will play top-ranked Western Christian in Friday night's championship game.

Former KWWL Athlete of the Week Casey Miles led Hudson with another solid, all-around game, putting up 15 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Lindsey Koch went 3-for-4 from three-point range in scoring 14 points.

Cascade, losing for the first time in 27 games, was led by Abbey Meyer with 24 points.

It will be the first appearance in the finals for Hudson, whose best previous finish had been third in the 1979 six-player tourney.

The Pirates will take a 25-1 record into the title game at 8 p.m. Friday.
