WATERLOO (KWWL) -
Officials with Operation Thaw say the organization has received reports of contractors going door to door, misleading residents with frozen pipes.
Operation Thaw is a project helping low-income residents with frozen pipes and is administered by Operation Threshold.
The Executive Director of Operation Threshold Barb Grant says these contractors are going door to door, telling residents that Operation Thaw will reimburse residents after the work is finished. However, Grant says that's not the correct protocol and there's no guarantee that these people will be reimbursed.
Grant says Operation Thaw will give residents a list of approved contractors, the person can choose a contractor from the list, and Operation Thaw will contact the contractor.
If you need assistance, call Operation Thaw at (319) 292-1868.
