ALTOONA (KWWL) -
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will not be voting on whether Cedar Rapids gets a casino license Thursday but they will learn how a Cedar Rapids casino will impact others. That could be a big factor in their final decision.
Marquette Advisors and Union Gaming Analytics will elaborate on statewide market studies. The studies said a Cedar Rapids casino will financially impact the existing market.
This is the first time the groups will address the commission since submitting their studies.
Both recommended that the commission say no to new licenses, including one for Cedar Rapids.
Casino investors may really need to sell the commission on why a casino would be beneficial, not just for Cedar Rapids, but for Iowa as a whole. Their big chance to do that is going to be on April 3rd when the commission makes a site visit to Cedar Rapids.
Two weeks later the commission will make its final decision on April 17th. ?
