WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Students and adults at Waterloo's Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church began the Lenten season in the spirit of giving.

Nearly 200 people packaged 32,000 meals on Ash Wednesday for Kids Against Hunger.

The food will be sent to the countries of Tanzania and Nicaragua to feed children and their families.

Each package contains ingredients for a nutritious rice and bean casserole that serves six people.

Outreach, a non-profit organization based in Union, helped facilitate this event.
